Our Vision

  • The heart of everything we do. We believe that shared creativity builds lasting bonds between friends, families and communities.

  • Making with our hands brings life to our stories. Every workshop, wreath and event celebrates the joy of creating something real and meaningful.

  • Art is a form of restoration. We partner with licensed professionals to design experiences that nourish both creativity and mental health.

  • We are stronger when we gather. Through local partnerships and shared events, we’re building spaces where everyone is welcome and inspired to create.

Heart of Home began as a small home decor shop in downtown Duncan. A space filled with handcrafted pieces and quiet creativity. What started as a love for creating beautiful spaces has grown into something deeper: a movement that brings people together through art, conversation and connection.

The Heart Behind
Heart of Home

Heart of Home was born from a deep love for faith, family and creating spaces that feel welcoming and lived in. What began as a simple idea has grown into a calling — one rooted in connection, creativity and community.

I am a mother of three incredible adult children and a proud grandmother with another grandchild on the way. My family is the foundation of everything I do, and their encouragement and support have been pillars of Heart of Home from the very beginning. Each of them plays a role in this journey — cheering me on, stepping in when needed and reminding me why this work matters.

I have always had a sharp eye for home decor and styling. Whether for homes, businesses or gathering spaces. I find inspiration in the quiet beauty of nature, old wooden barns, antique shops, gardening, creek walks and slow moments outdoors. Music fills my days as well, from timeless classics like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole to soft piano jazz and soulful voices that feel like home.

In June of 2022, during a much-needed trip to Southport, NC, I experienced a moment that would change everything. While there, I felt a strong nudge to step out in faith (encouraged by a conversation with a local business owner who challenged me to “step out of the boat.”). It was a reminder that sometimes obedience and courage are found in the smallest conversations with complete strangers.

When I returned home, that message stayed with me. I knew Heart of Home was meant to be more than just a store. I wanted it to be a place that felt warm, loved and meaningful. It would be a space where people could gather, create and feel encouraged.

That spirit continues to guide everything we do today. From workshops and events to curated goods and partnerships with local artisans, Heart of Home exists to uplift others and celebrate the beauty found in every day moments. Even our vendors and instructors are part of this story — creatives who stepped forward alongside me, believing in something that felt bigger than all of us.

My faith is central to my life and work, and the verses that continue to anchor me are Psalm 18:2 and Psalm 23 — reminders of strength, guidance and peace through every season.

Heart of Home is (and always will be) a reflection of gratitude, faith, and the joy of stepping forward together.

Warmly,

Janet
